Ülikooli staadion

1950. aastatel rajati Emajõe ürgoru perves asuvasse kunstlikku orvandisse varasema väiksema spordiplatsi kohale Tartu Ülikooli täismõõtmetes staadion. Praeguse staadioni kirdenurgas, Peetri kiriku pool, toimus 1869. aastal esimene Eesti üldlaulupidu.

University stadium

In the 1950s, a full-sized stadium for the University of Tartu was built in an artificial depression on the bank of the Emajõgi primeval valley, replacing a smaller sports field. In the northeastern corner of the current stadium, near St Peter’s Church, the first Estonian Song Festival took place in 1869.
