EST: KP9. J. Hurda 4, Kaarel Kirde kodu
Aadressil J. Hurda 4 elas aastatel 1931–1944 Tartu Ülikooli Meteoroloogia Observatooriumi (Metobs) kauaaegne direktor professor Kaarel Kirde (enne eestistamist Karl Frisch).

ENG: CP9. J. Hurda 4, home of Kaarel Kirde
From 1931–1944, this house at J. Hurda 4 was the home of the long-term Director of the University of Tartu Meteorological Observatory (Metobs), Professor Kaarel Kirde (Karl Frisch before the Estonianisation of names). Construction was one of professor’s hobbies and he also had a second house in the Tähtvere district.
In the Soviet period, the Sarv family, who had been related to the professor’s family already before World War II, lived here. In the 1990s, the house was returned to the Kirde family and in 1998, Kaarel Kirde’s son Kalju had the urns of his mother and father buried in the garden of their former home. In 1992, a memorial plaque to the professor was placed on the building. In the new millennium, the house was sold to new owners, and the urns buried in the garden were reinterred at Raadi, where the family now has a burial plot.
