Christmas Run is an individual adventurous orienteering race, where in addition to the usual checkpoints, adventurous elements are added to the map. The course may include, for example, micro-orienteering, indoor orienteering, topographic maps, mirror maps, etc. The checkpoints are passed in the order indicated on the map, and there may be optional orienteering segments.
We have added the traditional orienteering day event format to the program. So, if the adventurous course doesn’t appeal to you, come and take a short trip orienteering in the usual way! We would greatly appreciate it if you could let us know in advance if you plan to participate in the orienteering day event. This will help us plan the printing of the maps.
If you wish to participate in this format, please let us know HERE.
You can also participate with your friends!
Competition center
Competition center is located at Variku sports hall.
Charity
€10 of each participant’s entry fee goes to charity. The entire entry fee of the orienteering day event format will go to charity. With the Christmas Run, we are raising funds to purchase necessary equipment for premature babies!
Last year we raised almost 2500€!
Starting materials and SI-cards
Race bibs are not used, but all the participants need to visit the secretariat before the competition. Rented SI-cards can be picked up at the registration desk.
All SI-cards, including rented ones, must be cleared and checked before the start. If the SI-card is not cleared, the result will be invalid and cancelled.
Capacity-related protests will not be accepted. The SI-AIR function is activated at all checkpoints along the entire course
If you have already registered and need to change the number of SI-card, please write to the organizer: sekretariaat@seiklushunt.ee.
SI-card rent – 2€ per person.
Start
Two starting groups: at 11 start for the long course and 11:20 start for the short course. The start takes place from the starting area, where everyone must check and clear their SI card upon entry! Upon entering the start area, participants will receive a rolled-up competition map, which can be opened once the start signal is given.
If participating in the orienteering day event format – start is between 11:30-15:30, according to your chosen time. The map, and if necessary the SI-card, can be collected at the event center. Starting works as it does usually – place the SI-card in clearing, controlling and starting station.
Safety
Caution in traffic – the event takes place in city, where both vehicles and other people are moving! Participants are required to follow traffic laws. Participants are responsible for their own health condition.
As usual, participants must navigate according to the reference marks on the map! If there is an olive/lettuce green area, you are not allowed to cross it, even if there are no physical fences or barriers present! Additionally, violet markings are also prohibited!
We want to avoid issues with landowners and ensure we can continue organizing events in the future, so we kindly ask for understanding and for participants to move along the course according to the map!
In case of withdrawal or failure to finish, participants must inform the organizers!

Lubatud = allowed.
Keelatud = prohibited.
Results and awards
Results will be up on the website by the evening of the competition day.
Event´s purpose is mainly entairtainment and charity, therefore no awards will be given.
