Õpperaamatukogu V. Kingissepa 15a, Jakobi 1

Teise maailmasõja järel kasvas üliõpilaste arv kiiresti, seega oli vaja korraga palju kõrgkooliõpikuid ja ka ruume õppimiseks. 1950. aastal hakati ülikooli kirikut ümber ehitama õpperaamatukoguks, valmis sai see 1956. aastal. Kolmel alumisel korrusel olid hoidlad, neljandal kataloogid ja 200-kohaline lugemissaal. Raamatukogu oli tööpäeviti lahti kella 8–22 ja avatud ka nädalavahetustel. Esialgu oli õpperaamatukogus neli töötajat, kuid nende arv aastatega suurenes. Õpperaamatukogu ehk tuubikum kujunes üliõpilaste meeliskohaks, Toomel asunud raamatukogus töötasid pigem õppejõud ja teadlased. 1982. aastal, kui õpperaamatukogu viidi üle uude majja W. Struve tänaval, kolis peahoonest kiriku ruumidesse seminarka, ajaloo-keeleteaduskonna raamatukogu, hiljem humanitaarraamatukogu. 2006. aastal see suleti.

Study library at V. Kingissepa 15a, Jakobi 1

The number of students grew quickly after World War II, so suddenly there was need for many university textbooks and rooms for studying. In 1950, the university started to reconstruct the university’s church into a study library. The works were completed in 1956. Three lower floors housed the stacks, while the catalogues and a 200-seat reading room were on the fourth floor. The library was open from 8–22 on workdays and it was also open on weekends. Initially, there were four employees in the study library, but the number increased over years. The study library or tuubikum, as it was called, became the favourite place for students, while teaching staff and researchers worked in the library on Toome Hill.  When the study library was moved into the new building in W. Struve 1 in 1982, the library of the history and linguistics department, later the humanities’ reference library, the seminarka, moved from the main building to the church rooms. It was closed in 2006.
